Red seed beads and pearls perch atop an emerald teardrop crystal to create a dazzling set of earrings for the holiday season.  Shiny red earring wires add to the cheery fa-la-la look of this project.  The tiny beads are twisted on wire which contributes to a deceptively complicated look.  Yet this project is simple to make in a very short time.  These would make great gifts for ladies with the true holiday spirit.

Directions

step 1 - Slip a nail head wire into the teardrop bead.

step 2 - Create a wrapped loop, wrapping the wire around the stem twice.  Cut off the excess.  If you’re unsure of how to create the loop see Jewelry Tools and Techniques.

step 3 - Cut a piece of 26 gauge wire to measure approximately 14”.  Wrap the end of the wire around the nail head wire twice above the teardrop.

step 4 - Slip on two red seed beads and two pearl seed beads alternating the colors.

step 5 - Make a curve in the 26 gauge wire leaving approximately .50” of bare wire between the beads and the teardrop.

step 6 - Grasp the beads and twist them until the 26 gauge wire crowds them snugly together.  Wrap the remaining wire around the headpin wire once.

step 7 - Add 4 more beads to the 26 gauge wire.  Create a curve as in step #5 and twist as in step #6.

step 8 - Continue adding beads and wrapping until you have formed 8 loops.  Wrap the excess 26 gauge wire around the headpin wire twice and cut off the excess.  Bend the wired beads arranging them in a cluster around the top of the teardrop. Open the eye of the earring wire and attach the wrapped loop.
