Sweet Ruffled Purse
I’ve finally used every last scrap of my original purchase of ruffled fabric to complete two of these sweet ruffled purses for two sweet little sisters. After making a Faux Wrap Ruffled Top, a Ruffled Yoke Blouse, and a Ruffled Christmas Angel, there’s not an inch of fabric left.
It’s hard to chose a favorite from my ruffled projects but this one is right at the top of the list. The finished purse measures approximately 7” x 7” so you could make it with as little as a foot of fabric since the fabric width is 50”. The ruffle fabric and the satin lining sandwich a structure of fleece. I like fleece for this project because it gives the purse body without making it stiff and inflexible. You’ll find ruffled knit fabric at your local fabric shop or online at Fabric.com.
step 14 - Tie 1/4” wide ribbon in matching bows to the loops in the purse frame. Use Fabri-Tac on the knots of the bows to keep them from slipping out. A bead of glue on the ends of the ribbons will keep them from fraying.
step 15 - Use flat nose pliers to open chain links to create a 20” length. Open one link on each end of the chain length and attach them to the purse frame.
step 16 - Add an optional hanging charm to the chain.
If you accidentally get adhesive on the metal frame, Turpenoid will cleanly remove it. Apply it with a Q-tip to control the application.
