Simple Silver Stash Earrings

Wondering what to do with those silver beads and spacers left over from other jewelry projects? On their own they may not look like anything special but arranged on a wire they create earrings that will work with any outfit. Look through your stash for a decorative large bead then three pairs of engraved, progressively smaller beads. You’ll need a total of seven beads/spacers for each of these earrings. This project can be made in less than an hour.

 

Directions

step 1 - Cut a piece of wire to measure 4.50” long.  The above photo shows the materials you’ll need for each earring.  My largest bead measures 8mm and the smallest is 3mm.

step 2 - Place the fat end of a magic marker in the middle of the wire and bend both sides up to form a smooth curve.

step 3 - Set the curved wire on lined paper with the bottom curve sitting on a line.  Measure 1.25” from the bottom line and mark both ends of the wire with a Sharpie.

step 4 - Grasp the wire at the mark with the wide part of the round nose pliers.  Wrap the wire around the pliers to form a complete loop.

step 5 - Cut the excess wire with the back of the pliers against the long wire.  Create the second loop and trim it in the same way.

step 6 - Remove the Sharpie marks with alcohol.  Bring the two loops together.  Open a 5mm jump ring and link it through both loops.  Close the ring.

step 7 - Attach a 7mm jump ring below the 5mm.

step 8 - Open the loop in an earring wire and attach it through the 5 and 7mm jump rings.  Close the loop.
