Scrolled Curio Pendant
This pretty copper pendant is the first clay project I created on my new Silhouette Curio machine. Could you make this pendant without the machine? Certainly, and the instructions are included on this page. My uniform, scrolled copper pieces were cut in seconds on the Curio, which demonstrates how fast and convenient it is. However you create it, it’s not difficult to do and can be finished in an evening even if you’re using a craft knife!
Before you begin, condition clay. Cutting should be done on deli film, which will allow you to easily rotate or lift off the work when necessary.
IMPORTANT NOTE - Setting numbers vary on clay conditioning machines. On my machine the thickest setting is 1 and the thinnest is 9.
step 7 - Craft Knife Users: Download and print the template onto card stock. Place the clay on deli film and the printout over the cooper clay. Cut out the design.
Curio Users: Import the design template into the Silhouette software. Place the solid copper clay on the shiny side of the freezer paper. Press it on the cutting mat. Install and set the deep cutting blade on #10. Unscrew the white blade cap. In cut settings choose “Thick Fabric” in materials, platform 4, Ratchet blade 10, Speed 3, and thickness 20. Cut the copper clay.
step 15 - Bake the pendant flat on parchment paper in a 275 degree oven for 30minutes. When cool, buff the clay with a soft cloth or Dremel buffing tool.
