Blue Moon Metal Leaf

Blue Moon Metal Leaf

Sapphire glass beads create a beautiful balance for large link silver chain and the metal leaf charm of this eye-catching necklace.  The four beads sizzle with enough color to compliment but not overpower the project.  The leaf measures 1.75” long and looked a bit tarnished in the package, something I didn’t notice at the store.  But a tiny bit of metal polish brought out the shine.  You can make this necklace in less than an hour.  It measures 16 inches long and sits so comfortably on the skin, you might never want to take it off.

Directions

step 1 - Tie a double knot in the end of the beading cord.  Slip the needle through the hole in the clam shell pulling the knot into the shell.

step 3 - Connect the hook of the clam shell to the end link of a 6” piece of chain.

step 4 - Remove a small link from the chain and attach it to the metal leaf.

step 5 - Add a small silver bead to the cord followed by the small end of a sapphire bead, a silver bead, the wide end of a sapphire bead, a silver bead, and the link attached to the leaf.  This is the center of your necklace.

step 6 - Add the same beads as in step 5, reversing their order.  The silver bead should be the last addition.  Add a clam shell to the cord with the backside of the shell facing the last silver bead.  Make a knot inside the clam shell with a knot tying tool.  Cut off excess cord and close the shell.  Attach the hook to another 6” piece of chain.  Read about clam shells and knot tying if you’re new to them.
