Lilac Mother's Day Gift Bag

Print, cut and paste is all it takes to create this pretty Mother’s Day project.  Spring colors and a little glitter combine on card stock for a very special way to present a gift for Mom, and one that’s made with your own hands.  I’ve supplied the artwork, you just need to download and print it out.

Allow all glue to dry completely between steps.

step 1 - Download and print out two color pages, one template, and one handle support page.  All these items need to be enlarged 200% to be printed at actual size.  The pages should fill a 8.50” x 11” page.

step 2 - Crease the template along the two vertical lines and the bottom horizontal line.

step 3 - Place the template on the backside of the color page.  Turn back the template on the fold.  Place a ruler on the crease and fold the color page over the ruler.  Crease the color page fold.  Do the same with the second vertical fold and the bottom horizontal one.  Repeat with the second color page.

step 4 - Cut off the white margins at the top and bottom of the color pages.

step 5 - Fold the bottom corners of the color pages by bringing the right vertical fold line in to meet the horizontal fold on the center section.  Do the same on the left side and then the other color page.

step 6 - With a craft knife, cut the handle hole in the template.  Place the template .25” below the top edge of the unprinted side of each color page.  Trace and cut out the openings.

step 8 - Apply a thin coat of glue to one of the white vertical margins.  Align a trimmed color page to the glued edge and match the pattern. When the glue is set and the flowers are stuck to the card, use a toothpick to lift flattened edges and improve their shapes.

step 9 - While the glue is drying, use the handle support page as a guide to cut out two pieces of clear plastic.

step 11 - Glue together the second side seam for the bag.

step 13 - Cut a piece of cardboard to measure 5.25” x 2.50”.  Apply glue all over it and place it glue side down into the bottom of the bag for support.

step 14 - Finish the bag by applying glue with a glue pen to the lilac teardrop shapes.  Press down on the pen to deposit glue on the round end of the drops then drag the glue to the pointy end.  Sprinkle the glue with glitter.
