Last Minute Reindeer Ornament
Just when you thought you had all your gifts purchased, you discover you need one or two small token items to complete your shopping. This clay project is the ideal last minute gift you can create in an hour or less. Make it simple or fancy by adding glitter, snow, pearls, or any adornment you have time for. However you decide to decorate it, the finished ornament will be a small treasure for the recipient. Don’t forget to sign your name on the back of the ornament with a permanent marker. The reindeer stencil is included in the directions pdf.
Step 4 - Bake the clay on a foil lined baking sheet at 275 degrees for 15 minutes. Let it cool completely.
Step 5 - Download and print the reindeer stencil on card stock. Cut out the stencil and spray the back side with adhesive.
Step 6 - Apply the stencil to the clay surface and spray the it with white paint.
Step 7 - Apply dabs of Snow-tex at the bottom of each ornament with a craft stick.
Dressing Up The Ornament
The reindeer ornament is very pretty with the simple reindeer image, but you can add to it as much as you have time for. My two ornaments are only two ideas.
The cooper ornament has a copper hanger created from inexpensive copper wiring purchased from Lowe’s. It also includes spatters of white paint flicked onto the surface from an old toothbrush to create the small flakes of snow.
The green ornament was brushed with Fast Finish Decoupage then sprinkled with fine gold glitter.
Pearls were wrapped around the loops of both ornaments with 26 gauge Artistic wire.
