Jasper and Silver Necklace

My affair with Jasper stones continues with these colorful stone rectangles. This simple stringing project can be completed in about an hour no matter what your skill level. I found the stunning decorative triangular beads at my local Hobby Lobby store. The information on the package is "Metal Gallery 1415397". I think the metal pieces are meant to act as bead caps on appropriate projects. But I had six Jasper stones remaining from previous bracelets and thought they would look fantastic flanked by the triangles. Do you agree? You can add more triangles, round beads and stones to this necklace if you like. Follow your creative impulse!

Directions

step 1 - Insert two beading cords with needles into a clam shell. The raw ends of the cord should be inside the shell. Tie the two cords together into a knot twice. Dot the knot with Krazy glue then snip off the excess with sharp scissors.

Bring both needles through a round decorative bead. Continue moving through the triangular bead. At this point assign a different color to each needle with a marker to help you keep the top cord going through the top holes in the beads and the bottom cord through the bottom holes. Switching them may cause your necklace to twist during wear.

step 5 - Following the photo, add round beads flanked by triangular beads until you have five different color Jasper stones on the cord. Finish with a round bead.

Insert both cords into the back of a clam shell and bring them out the opening. As in step #1, tie the cords in knots and apply glue. Snip off excess and close the shell. Attach the hooks of both clam shells into links of chain. Chain should be cut to the length you need for your size neck. The beaded portion of the necklace measures 10". So if you need a 16" necklace, add three inches of chain to each clam shell. Use jump rings to attach a clasp to the chain.
