Dainty Turquoise Earrings

Finished Size 10” x 11” x 3”

A small dangling cube of turquoise set against silver beads and wire make these earrings irresistible.  The combination of materials exude a clean, fresh contemporary look. With so many leftover beads you’ll want to create another project, or maybe more earrings to give as gifts!  This project can be completed in about an hour.

 

Directions

step 1 - Cut the wire to 6” long.  Place the ring making tool in the center of the wire.  Wrap both ends of the wire around the tool twice.

step 2 - Grab the wire stems with flat nose pliers and twist the ring tool to wrap the wires around each other.

step 3 - Slide a silver bead onto both wires.  Wrap the wire stems around the ring tool.

step 4 - Slide the work off the tool and cut the tails where they meet the bead. Use pliers to align them and shape them into matching loops.

step 5 - Slip a metal ruler or other thin flat object between the two loops and wiggle the ruler from left to right to separate the loops.

step 6 - Open the metal square by holding one end with pliers and pushing the other end away from you.  Create an opening large enough to accommodate the turquoise tube.  Slip the square through the two loops.

step 7 - Place the turquoise bead onto one end of the metal square.  Close the square with the other end inserted into the bead.  Pinch the two square corners to secure the ends inside the bead.

step 8 - Arranging the loops so that each one is slanted outward to the corners of the square will keep the square level and prevent it from rotating as you wear them.  Attach an earring wire.
