Blended Clay Angel Ornament
Angels are a popular icon around the holidays and making your own can be a fun project. Giving them away can be even more joyous! This angel can stand on it’s own on a table top or mantel or attach it to a pretty hanger for the tree. The red and white blended clay is created simply by stacking two colors, twisting, flattening, etc. You’ll find the easy detailed steps below. Make several angels in different color blends with various beads. Don’t forget to save one for yourself!
Before you begin, condition clay. Cutting should be done on plastic film, which will allow you to easily rotate or lift off the work when necessary.
IMPORTANT NOTE - Setting numbers vary on clay conditioning machines. On my machine the thickest setting is 1 and the thinnest is 9.
step 7 - Set the clay on the paper cone for support. Bake at 275 degrees for 30 minutes. Allow to cool completely before handling.
step 10 - With flat nose pliers, create a 90 degree bend 1/4” from the decorative bead and position the halo. Cut off excess wire if required.
