Angels are a popular icon around the holidays and making your own can be a fun project.  Giving them away can be even more joyous!  This angel can stand on it’s own on a table top or mantel or attach it to a pretty hanger for the tree.  The red and white blended clay is created simply by stacking two colors, twisting, flattening, etc.  You’ll find the easy detailed steps below.  Make several angels in different color blends with various beads.  Don’t forget to save one for yourself!

Before you begin, condition clay.  Cutting should be done on plastic film, which will allow you to easily rotate or lift off the work when necessary.

IMPORTANT NOTE - Setting numbers vary on clay conditioning machines.  On my machine the thickest setting is 1 and the thinnest is 9.

Directions

step 1 - Roll red and white clay out on the conditioning machine’s # 1 setting.  Cut four 3” squares and stack them, alternating colors.  Roll the stack into a tube on the work surface.  Fold the tube in half and roll again.  Flatten and put the clay through the conditioning machine until you like the color blend.  Run it through again on # 3 setting.

step 6 - Cut a piece of wire to measure 3” long.  Make a small loop on one end.  Roll out a clump of clay in your hands into a teardrop shape.  Slip the blunt end of the wire through the center of the clay and coat the top portion of the clay and 1/4” of the wire with Liquid Polymer.  Slide the wire up into the clay cone.
