IMAGINATIVE GIFT BOXES

MAKE THEM YOURSELF

Imagine a box for every occasion, personalized with images and messages that suit the moment.  With our template you can easily make them.  Because they’re created in Photoshop, there’s no limit on the design or the size of the box.  The template will create a box that measures 2.5" across the front, 1.50" from top to bottom, and 1.50" from front to back.  Print out the template on standard printer paper.

If you need a larger box, increase the  template size in Photoshop.  Print the template out in sections and tape them together to use as a pattern for cutting out your larger box.

  1. 1. Download the free box template and open it in Photoshop.  If the size doesn’t need to be changed, print out the page on standard paper.

  1. 2. Create the outer design for the box using images, colors, and messages of your choice in Photoshop.  If you don't feel especially creative, search the internet for images.  Paste your images into a new layer of the Photoshop box template.

  1. 3. Lower the image opacity for that layer, which will reveal the template underneath. If you choose, alter the image size or move the image around.  Place portions of the image where you would like them on the box.  When you’re done, change the opacity back to 100% .  Discard the template layer and print the image on heavy card stock.

  1. 4. Lay the printed template on the printed image page, both with the print side up.  Be sure the edges of the two pages are lined up.  Keep the pages from shifting as you work by securing the page edges with double-sided tape.

  1. 5. With an Exacto knife, cut through the two pages.  Follow the cutting then folding directions on the template.   Do not remove the template from the image page until you have made all the folds.

  1. 6. To form the box, apply double sided tape to the flaps where indicated on the template.

TIPS

Wrapping paper or other specialty paper can be used for your image design.  Glue it to heavy card stock then use the template as a pattern for cutting out the box.

Solid color stock and corrugated paper also make pretty boxes.

Jazz up the box with ribbon, jewelry parts, glitter, etc.

An ideal weight card stock is smooth Bristol 100 lb. paper used for drawing.

If you use a very heavy card stock or cardboard, you will have to score the unprinted side of the box on the folds lines.  This will allow for sharper creases.
