RIBBON, CORD
BEADS & WOOD
This necklace is 18.5” long
4. With sharp scissors, cut the tail of the cord flush with the edge of the last bead. The raw edge will be hidden between the beads you will add.
5. Continue beading the cord with all the remaining beads.
Slide the crimp bead up close to the clasp and secure it in place using the crimper tool. (See how to use the crimper tool below.) Be sure the crimp isn’t so tight against the clasp that the clasp is rigid and unable to flex.
7. Now that you’ve completed beading, you have three pieces to work with:
- the strand of beads,
- the ribbon and cord necklace
- the wooden disk
8. Fold the strand of beads in two. Pass the fold under the center of the ribbon and cord necklace, and through the wooden disk. Bring the two strands of beads up over the ribbon center, and pass them into the fold of beads.
9. Pull the two strands until the disk and necklace are secure.
10. Bring the left strand up and under the center beads, pulling it all the way through.
11. Do the same with the right strand to complete the bead knot.
12. Wind the left strand up the left side of the necklace, passing it between the ribbon and cord 2 or 3 times. Do the same on the right side.
13. Using pliers, open the left side jump ring by holding one side stationery, and pushing the other side away from you. Hook it through one of the rings at the end of the necklace, then close it the same way you opened it, except you’ll be pulling the side of the ring toward you.
14. Wind the right side strand up the right side of the necklace and finish as you did with the left side.
How To Use A Double Crimper Tool
1 2 3 4
Step 1 - Place bead in bottom notch.
Step 2 - Squeeze handles so that the protrusion on the right, creates a crimp in the bead.
Step 3 - Place bead in top notch, rotated 90 degrees as shown.
Step 4 - Squeeze handles causing the bead to fold inward.
3. Pass the needle through the 4 glass beads, pulling the entire length of cord until the short end is about 1 1/2 inch from the first bead on the string.
6.Thread the needle through another crimp bead, then through another jump ring and back again through the crimp bead, returning the needle through the last 4 beads. Pull the cord so there is no excess play in the beads and secure the crimp bead with the crimper tool. With a sharp scissors, cut the excess cord close to the edge of the 4th bead.
