DONNA’S EARRINGS

DIRECTIONS

  1. 1. Using jewelry glue, attach an earring post to the back of the silver square.  Let dry for 24 hours.

  2. 2. Thread a nail head pin through a small silver bead, the rootbeer bead, and an ornamental metal bead cap.

  3. 3. Finish the earring by attaching the wire to the silver square and creating a loop.  If you need help creating a wire loop, click Jewelry Making Techniques and Tools below.

Finished earring measures 1 3/4” long

Rootbeer colored glass beads dangle off engraved silver squares in these pretty, and fun to assemble earrings.  We found the engraved silver parts on a strand of six intended for bracelet making.  Each square had a metal loop on each side so that each could be linked to the other.  But we had a different idea.  With metal cutters we eliminated one loop on each and used a metal file to smooth out the jagged remains.  The squares became the base and focal point of this earring creation.

Your earrings don’t have to have square metal parts or rootbeer beads.  Just use the concept of this project as a starting point to come up with combinations for your own dangling creations!
