Linked Shell Bead Necklace

More Shells!  Making our mixed shell bracelet gave us inspiration for another project using shells.  Here’s a necklace designed around one pretty metal filigree centerpiece.  The irregular color and shape of natural shell beads create the beautiful contrast.  Along with the centerpiece, the gun metal chain, and dark Swarovski crystals combine to complete the color theme.  Easy as pie to make, this necklace only takes 4 steps!  Once your sections are assembled, just link them together.

DIRECTIONS

1. 1. Create the twelve bicone bead sections.  Start by making a loop on one end of a nail head wire.  Put the wire through a turquoise seed bead, a black crystal bicone bead, and another seed bead.  Make a loop at the end of the wire.  Pair sections together to make six complete parts.
   

2. 2. Create four shell sections by making a loop in one end of a nail head wire.  Put the wire through one silver seed bead, one round shell bead, and one more seed bead.  Make a loop at the end of the wire.
   

3. 3. Open the loops of two bicone sections and link one to each side of the filigree centerpiece then close them.  Attach a shell section to the opposite end of the bicone sections and continue linking, alternating shell sections and bicone sections.  There should be three bicone and two shell sections to the left and right of center.
   

4. 4.Cut the chain into two eight inch pieces.  Fold each piece in half.  At the fold connect the loop of the last bicone section.  With a jump ring, connect the two free ends of chain to the clasp.
