GET THE PARTY STARTED

THE GLOVES AND CUFFS
White gloves with rhinestoned cuffs act as anchors for balloons imprinted with musical notes.

1.Blow a little air into a latex glove. It should not be completely filled and the fingers stiff. They need to be slightly flexible. Use a twist tie or string to tie off the end of the glove so air won’t escape.

2.Stuff the latex fingers into the white cotton glove until the cotton glove completely contains the latex. This requires some patience.

3.Bend the fingers of the glove into a natural looking fist. Sew the cotton fingertips in position with white thread, or attach with a hot glue gun.

4. Stuff the sandbag into the palm side of the cotton glove. This requires pushing it between the latex and cotton gloves and shaping it so that it holds the fist in an upright position and keeps it from leaning.

5.Cut the white paper into two 4.25” x 11 pieces. Cut the black card stock into two 2” x 11 pieces. Glue the black strips onto the white ones lining up the edges.

6.From the remaining black card stock, cut out two .75” circles and glue a 11mm rhinestone in the center of each. When they are dry, apply a .75” wide strip of glue, on the outer edge of the 4.25” side of the strips. Bend the ends of the strips so they meet and form a cuff. Lay a heavy book on them to hold them in place while the glue dries.

7.Attach a small safety pin inside the fist of the glove. Put it in a position that will be easy to access. You will attach the streamers for the balloons to this pin.

8.Before the party, attach the balloon streamers to the safety pin. Position the gloves inside the cuffs. They are not attached to each other in any way. Stuff black tissue paper into the open end of the cuff to conceal the glove ends. We used white tissue and wished we had used black instead.
THE TOP HAT

1.Cut out the center of the top hat and drop a flower filled vase inside. Setting the vase and hat on a silver circular cardboard found at party shops, will make it easier to move the arrangement around.

2.For the musical notes hat band, we made a photocopy of the drink napkins on copy paper. We cut it to 1/5” wide and glued two together to fit around the base of the hat.

- Hang posters on the walls from Cats, Phantom, and other favorite musical productions. Most posters are available online.
