BEAN BAG

REINDEER

These goofy guys can be positioned in any way you choose.  Put one on each step of a stair case, or sit them on shelves.  We made ours in grey just to mix things up a bit.  The original pattern called for traditional brown and tan with a red plaid bow.

The finished reindeer are soft creatures measuring  9.5” across outstretched legs and 5.5” from nose to tail.  But since you can print out the pattern you can make them larger if you like.  Just print all the pattern pieces at more than 100%.

Suggested fabrics include fake suede, flannel or any soft fabric.  Felt is not recommended because its weight makes it difficult to turn pieces inside out after sewing.  However, felt is used for the antlers because no seams are involved.

The big sweet innocent eyes are half ball buttons with black paint for pupils.  Their noses are also half ball buttons. Bows are tied around their necks and tiny bells are glued at the base of the antlers.  Noses, eyes, and bells are hot glued to the face.  The head and body are stuffed with batting and the legs can be filled with popcorn, lentil beans, rice, fish tank pebbles or whatever you find handy that gives them ballast.

We suggest using wire edge ribbon for the bow.  It allows you to reshape the ribbon after a year of being crushed away in a Christmas storage box.

The reindeer pattern includes complete instructions plus detailed illustrations.
